Qualifications

• High school diploma

• Self-aware and highly reflective to be able to give helpful feedback from live workshops

• Experienced in working with toddler/elementary-age children in academic or extracurricular settings

Responsibilities working with children:

• Assist lead Artist Educator

• Facilitate workshops for children ages 1-12; Keep children on task with lessons

• Support and strengthen expectations and professionalism set by Lead Artist Educator

• Help with the creation of materials and lessons for upcoming workshops

Responsibilities working with adults:

• Build and sustain strong relationship with colleagues

• High level of professionalism and candor

• Weekly meetings for curriculum planning, workshop preparation, and sharing reflections from workshops (over the phone or in-person meet-up)

• Learn skills in various areas of art, design, and project management

Other Considerations:

• Theater experience/storytelling is not required, but having a willingness to learn is

• For all applicants, please be aware that the typical commitment is one semester (14 -16 weeks). Preference will be given to those willing to work in Manhattan and Brooklyn

• Willing to comply with state, local or school related CDC guidelines for working with children (i.e. fingerprinting, background check, health requirements, etc.).  

• Compensation: Internship is unpaid. However, SSL can offer the valuable resource of mentorship, professional letters of recommendation and possible work-study arrangement for those pursuing advanced degrees.

• Highly communicative with parents, administrators, educators

• Experienced in working with toddler/elementary-age children in academic or extracurricular settings

• Have worked at least one year in marketing/child entertainment

Responsibilities

• Outreach to schools and parent organizations in the NYC area

• Creating fun and imaginative ways to reach parents/schools

• On site canvassing to targeted partnerships in the NYC area

• High level of professionalism and candor

• Weekly meetings

• Design graphics experience

• Manage social media marketing and day-to-day campaigns

• Perform background research if needed

• 1 1⁄2 -2 years of experience working with toddler/elementary age children in academic/extra-curricular settings
